As in any class, your work will be graded. Here are the requirements by which your final posts will be evaluated:

Rubric for Blog-Posts


1. Ideas and content – 16 points
possible

● Clear subject and purpose statement – 2 pts

● Post contains well-researched information – 4 pts

  • well-researched denotes sources such as newspapers, magazines, journals, and books

  • even if you can’t write html links, you must mention your sources at the bottom of the post

● Post represents the subject and purpose of blog – 3 pts

● Post avoids personal data – 1 pt

Post meets the length criteria (400 – 600 words) – 6 pts


2. Voice, Word Choice, and Fluency – 8 points possible

● Post speaks to a definite audience – 2 pts

● Written with an informed vocabulary- 2 pts

● Written concisely, not wordy – 2 pts

● Rare usage of “I”, “me” – 2 pts


3. Conventions – 6 points possible

● Spelling and grammar are correct – 2 pts

● Punctuation, bullets, hyphens, and paragraph dividers make the post orderly – 2 pts

● Appropriate citation of sources at the bottom of posts – 2 pts


4. Organization – 9 points possible

● Blog set-up is easy to understand and well-ordered – 2 pts

● Graphics are tasteful and contribute to the meaning of the post – 2 pts

● Paragraphs are consistently focused, not scattered – 2 pts

● Side-bars allow for easy access to – 3 pts

  1. other similar blogs
  2. useful websites related to the subject matter
  3. earlier posts from the author


    5. HTML - 6 points possible

● Appropriate textual presentation (fonts, bold, italics) – 2 pts

● At least 2 Hyperlinks embedded within each post – 2 pts

● At least 1 graphic image per post – 2 pts
